Kerala - Kochi

Trains to be picketed at Kalamassery

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The Kalamassery Pourasamithi has decided to picket trains on March 21 demanding development of the Kalamassery Railway Station.

The pourasamithi is also putting up the long-pending demand of allowing stops for long-distance trains at Kalamassery.

Pourasamithi coordinator Alupuram Zakeer said that even though Kalamassery had developed into a centre of industry and education, with reputed educational institutions, only passenger trains stop here. The office of the Pourasamithi will be opened at Manath Building in front of the Police Station on March 18.

A meeting of the pourasamithi held on Friday demanded that steps be taken to reopen the Cochin University of Science and Technology immediately.

The samithi extended all support to the efforts of the parents- teachers association to reopen the university.
