Financial assistance to farmers from Horticulture Mission

KOCHI: The District Horticulture Mission has invited applications from farmers in the district who need financial assistance for different projects including cultivation and for improving infrastructural facilities.
Pine apple farmers will get an assistance of Rs.15,000 per hecatre for starting new cultivation. An assistance of Rs.30,000 per unit will be available for producing organic manure using earthworms.
Farmers who are eligible can also get an assistance of Rs.11,250 per hectare for cultivating turmeric. Farmers cultivating nutmeg can avail Rs.35,000 per hectare. The farmers who are engaged in cultivating flowers like orchid and anthurium can get an assistance of Rs.35,000 per hectare.
Assistance will be available for setting up infrastructure, including the construction of green houses and installing shade nets. Financial assistance of Rs.325 per square meter will be given to the construction of green houses, while Rs. Seven per square meter will be allotted for making shade nets.
Farmers interested in the organic cultivation of pineapple can also avail of the assistance of Rs. 10,000 per hectare. Those who are interested in availing of the assistance should give applications at the respective Krishii Bhavans, according to the Horticulture Mission Member Secretary. The applications should reach the respective Krishi Bhavans on or before June 15.
