Herbal gardens planned at schools

KOCHI: District Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish has said that the distribution of bonus to the paddy farmers in the district will be conducted more efficiently.

Presiding over the District Agricultural Development Committee meeting here on Thursday, the Collector said that the herbal gardens planned at Krishi Bhavans would also be initiated at schools. Government and aided schools will be given priority in this scheme.

Saju Paul, MLA, said that it should be ensured that the bonus was distributed to the deserving farmers alone. He said that only Government and aided schools should be considered for the scheme.

A total number of 11 projects in the agricultural sector worth Rs.1.79 crores under the State Government schemes are being implemented in the district.

Of this, Rs.1.21 crores had already been spent; and Rs.45.17 lakhs from the Central-sponsored schemes of Rs. 54.37 lakhs had also been spent.
